Firefox 6 and RecipeFox

Postby kjohnsn » 02 Sep 2011, 18:19

I am running Win7 Pro 64-bit all updates installed. Java is v6.27. I removed my old version (3.something) of Firefox and reinstalled, updating to version 6. Then I added in RecipeFox .59. The sites show up, and GrabIt works, but Grab Them, etc. (the button that used to be in the bottom right corner) has disappeared. Where did it go and how can I get it back?

Thanks,
Kathy J.

Okay, I figured out how to get the Grab Them button back, and happily on the toolbar this time! But what about the recipe counter?

The recipe counter was in the status status bar which was removed in Firefox 4, but you can find it in the add-on bar (Ctrl+/ or View->Toolbars->Add-on Bar).

I was using RecipeFox yesterday with Firefox 6.0.1 (I think), and now the Add On window says that RecipeFox is incompatible with that version of Firefox. (I found this out because when I restarted Firefox, RecipeFox dropped off the screen.) Everything is up to date with Java, etc. Can you help me get RecipeFox back?

Thanks.

I am currently using FF 6.0.1 with RF .59, the current version of RF. It is definitely compatible with FF 6. I would recommend that you restore all your programs, FF, java, and RF to fix whatever is interfering with your installation. First try a cold boot to see if that fixes the problem. If not, then go ahead with the restore.

When I went to download RF again, it said that it was version .58 (which is the one that isn't compatible). Do you have a link to version .59?

Thanks.

You can always get the newest version of RecipeFox here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/recipetools/files/RecipeFox/

Grrr. I went to download it, couldn't decompress it, downloaded this: http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/xpi and when I went to drag and drop the link from RF into the box on the program's decompress page, I get an error message. Says that the file extension isn't supported (roughly - I forget exactly). Any thoughts on what's going wrong?

Thanks.

Jocelyn,

We are happy to hear that you finally got back on track. There are many things that can happen to cause stuff on a computer to stop working. We realize that for many people, RecipeFox is an essential tool for their daily dose of capturing recipes from the web. And to get stuck without the use of RF can be frustrating.

So we try our best to offer support to get RF back to normal. It sometimes takes some time and effort, but we are almost 100% successful in getting folks back to using RF in a reasonable amount of time.

Thank you for being a loyal user of RecipeFox.
